I saw and read some reviews on this one from many people and everyone agreed that this is a fantastic whiskey.

It was rewarded whiskey of the year in 2018 in a blind tasting.

In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky

Bottled at 51.4 % alcohol per volume

Nikka From The Barrel is a blended whisky created to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky “from barrels” which only blenders can sniff and taste.

The iconic bottle is designed to reflect “a small block of whisky” – embodying the rich, strong taste of the whisky within. From their website

On the nose

First without water. The alcohol hits you first. Loads of vanilla, toffee, spices.

I added 2 teaspoons of water to open it up and wow…. Big vanilla notes came out. English toffee.

The taste test

Very sweet. Lite oak coming through. The caramel, toffee, spice, This needs more water than usual at 51.4% alcohol per volume. This is a perfect sipping blended whisky. Just add some water 3 teaspoons will be perfect
